WHAT IS THAI YOGA THERAPY?

Thai Yoga Therapy is an interactive form of spiritual and energy-based body therapy that combines assisted yoga stretching, acupressure points, rythmic muscle compression, Sen energy line tracing, synchronized breathing, joint mobilization and meditation.  Other names are Thai Massage, Thai Stretching, Thai Yoga, Thai Bodywork, Thai Yoga Therapy and Assisted Yoga.

The Practioner uses their thumbs, palms, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to work a network of lines vs each Sen line individually.  Pressing and stretching muscles to release energy blockages and stagnation.  Benefits of working the Sen lines are that it brings awareness to the body, brings Qi and blood to the area, moves stagnant energy and lymph, breaks up myo-fascial adhesions.

The purpose of Thai Yoga is to balance the elements and maintain good health.  Benefits include balanced energy, reduced energetic stagnation, greater interaction and involvement during a session by breathing and moving, increased body awareness, mindfulness, energy, alertness, flexibility, range of motion in joints, blood and lymph circulation, reduced muscular tension, joint pain, improved posture through spinal decompression and stretching.  Thai Yoga is beneficial for overall health, relaxation, relief of aches and pains, therapy for relief of specific musculoskeletal symptoms/disorders and prevention of joint stiffness.

Thai Yoga demonstrates the Four Divine States of the mind:

Metta ~ Loving Kindness: The ability to show loving kindness and benevolence toward all beings without discrimination.

Karuna ~ Compassion: Compassion for all sentient beings who suffer and a desire to ease their suffering without taking it on ourselves.

Mudita ~ Sympathetic Joy/Empathy: Rejoicing with those who have good fortune and never feeling envy.

Upekkha ~Equanimity/Mental Calmness: Mindfulness in which one regards others without prejudice or preference.
